het gevoel van de jaren vijftig en zestig in Geldrop in foto's gevangen. De kijker ziet vele taferelen langskomen uit een voorbije Geldropse samenleving. Het is een samenleving waar nog sokken worden gestopt, op het boerenerf een geslacht varken hangt, de kermis het jaarlijkse hoogtepunt van vertier is en waar de hele straat nog uitloopt om naar een nieuw Dafje te komen kijken.
Hannes Wallrafen haalde deze taferelen uit familie-albums van Geldropse families. Soms toont hij deze beelden in hun originele vorm; vaak deed hij er ook iets extra's mee. Hij combineerde de familiefoto's met andere foto's, soms mengde bij door middel van digitale beeldmanipulatie een aantal foto's met elkaar tot een nieuw beeld. En soms maakte hij zelf een nieuwe foto die de sfeer van de wederopbouw uitademt.
Onvoltooid Verleden is tevens de titel van zijn boek. Hierin zijn de foto's uitgebracht met teksten van Hannes Wallrafen zelf, van de Belgische fotocriticus Johan de Vos en van de Eindhovense fotogaleriehouder Harry Pennings. Met dank aan de Mondriaan Stichting. Zij maakte het project financieel mogelijk.

Hannes Wallrafen has captured the feeling of the'50s and'60s in Geldrop in Past Imperfect. The spectator sees many scenes pass by from a now vanished Geldrop society. lt was a society where socks ware darned, a slaughtered pig hangs in the farm yard, the annual fun fair was the high point of entertainment and where the whole street still came out to look at a new DAF, the pride of Dutch auto manufacture.
Hannes Wallrafen pulled these scenes together from the family albums of Geldrop residents. Sometimes he shows these images in their original form; often he does something extra with them. He combines family photos with other photos. Sometimes, by means of digital image manipulation, he blends a number of photographs together with each other into a new image. And sometimes he even makes a new photograph that is redolent of the atmosphere of the years of postwar reconstruction.
Onvoltooid Verleden (Past imperfect) is also the title of the book. lt collects the photographs, with texts by Hannes Wallrafen himself, by the Belgian photography critic Johan de Vos, end the Eindhoven photo gallery owner Harry Pennings.
